Eduard Ingles

I am a Barcelona-born visual artist with Australian citizenship, based in Australia since 1999. From an early age, I was drawn to visual expression, developing a strong interest in image-making that has continued to evolve over time. Over the past decade, my artistic practice has intensified, leading to a significant increase in both production and exhibition activity.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts from Curtin University, majoring in Fine Arts and Visual Culture. My practice is eclectic and fluid, spanning acrylic painting, digital collage, and illustration. I am particularly interested in conceptual approaches and surreal visual languages, using imagery as a way to explore ideas rather than fixed narratives.

My work often functions as a visual conversation, creating unexpected connections and inviting interpretation. Through layered compositions and symbolic elements, I aim to spark reflection, curiosity, and dialogue between the artwork and the viewer.

I have participated in numerous group exhibitions and have presented solo exhibitions, and I continue to develop a practice that is exploratory, responsive, and open-ended.

I have also been working as a lighting designer for live performance since the age of 18. Before moving to Australia, I built a long international touring career, creating lighting designs across a wide range of contexts and venues. Much of my work has been developed in collaboration with contemporary dance companies overseas, while I have also specialised in lighting design for circus and opera.

In parallel, I bring over 20 years of experience in architectural lighting, with a strong focus on exhibition and gallery lighting design. This work has deeply informed my approach to composition, spatial awareness, and the relationship between light, object, and audience.

My lighting philosophy centres on the subtle power of light. I am interested in restraint, precision, and clarity, concentrating on supporting the performance, artwork, or environment rather than overpowering it. I believe that thoughtful, delicate lighting enhances the value of every performance or exhibition, allowing its essential elements to emerge with greater depth and presence.
